Sam Smith || Stay With Me

I love when I find a new artist that I'm truly excited about, especially when I love every one of their songs. Usually there are one or two songs on an album that I could do with out but from what I've heard of Sam Smith, I don't think that will be the case. His album In the Lonely Hour is due out on June 17th and I've already pre-ordered it!

Soooo, I've been away for two weeks. What?!
Here's why:
I was supposed to have surgery last Wednesday but when I went in for a check-up with my doctor the Friday before he said no way. Well, for now that is. Chances are I'll still need the surgery but not right now. But because I was supposed to have surgery I spent a full week getting work squared away and training some one who would have been covering me while I was recovering which is why I was MIA the first week. Then last week, I just kept that break going. Partly because I wasn't feeling motivated or inspired due to not having the surgery. That might seem strange so let me explain. After dealing with this ongoing health issue for quite some time (since October!) having the surgery meant finally reaching the light at the end of the tunnel. And eventually that might still be the plan but for right now, I'm on hold. And without explaining all the gory details it actually means I'm healthy so I can't be to upset about not having the surgery. I'm just to the point where I want it to be done and over with!

So until then I'm just going to go with the flow and listen to this happy song!

After flying through all three books in the Divergent series I'm so excited the first movie is coming out this Friday. And on top of that the soundtrack features a few of my favorites: Snow Patrol, Zedd, and Ellie Goulding [4 sounds from her!]. So of course I've already purchased! My current favorite is this one from Ellie. Can't wait to see how the soundtrack plays into the movie!

In honor of the Oscar's this past weekend I thought I'd feature a song I can't get out of my head. I love this song because it's the U2 sound we all know and love, fun and upbeat. But I also loved the acoustic version they did Sunday night. Sometimes hearing an artistic do something different from their usual can be a little weird but I definitely think they pulled this one off.

I realize this song is a few years old [hello 2008/senior year of college!] but it came on the radio the other morning while I was driving into work and even though I was half asleep and not wanting to work I turned it up and was instantly in a good mood. Sometimes a song with good memories is exactly what you need!

With Valentine's Day on Friday it seemed completely necessary to have this week's Tuesday's Tune be a love song. And who's better at singing a love song than John Legend? I mean his voice .... so good ! His new album Love in the Future has quite a few fabulous songs [Made to Love, For the First Time, All of Me] but this one is definitely at the top.

Have you guys seen the trailer for Inside Llewyn Davis? With a cast made up of Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, and Oscar Isaac I have a feeling it's going to be amazing. The soundtrack has been on repeat and I'm especially loving the duet by Justin Timberlake and Carey Mulligan. I must admit it's a little strange to hear JT's voice on a folk song but I kinda like it. And who knew Carey could sing? I certainly didn't but am pleasantly surprised [maybe her hubby taught her]!

The boyfriend is in town tomorrow night so we made plans to go see it. I'll make sure to let you all know how it is!

 Last Friday Cincinnati was hit with some pretty serious snow, enough for my work to close early. When I got home I found both of my roommates also home from work early so we decided to have a snowed in movie + wine night. Because the snow had us in the holiday spirit we decided to watch The Holiday. You might recognize the song above from the very last scene. You know, this scene where they all lived happily ever after and spent New Years Even together in London.

Sometimes I put my iPhone on shuffle and just let the music go. This usually happens on the days I can't decide what I want to listen to or when I'm cleaning my room which is what I was doing last night. And there are always those songs that no matter how many times you hear it you never grow tired of it or just love it that much more. For me this is one of those songs.

A Great Big World ft Christina Aguilera || Say Something


This song is absolutely beautiful and is my newest obsession. Originally it was recorded by A Great Big World but was later re-recorded after Christina heard the song. Read all about it and watch the video of the interview  here.

Lady Gaga ft R Kelly || Do What U Want 

  Lady Gaga is usually hit or miss with me. But I was instantly hooked when I heard this song for the first time. Maybe it's because of my love for R Kelly [his music that is] or maybe because it's not normal Gaga. 

Either way, I love it and it will be on repeat all day every day ... until I burn myself out!

MGMT || Electric Feel

Hands down Electric Feel by MGMT is one of my favorite songs.

And then while watching The Voice I saw this performance by Preston Pohl. 

His voice is amazing, a gritty Michael Bolton if you will [let me know if you agree!]. 

And now I can't decide who does it better! But really, it doesn't matter because they can both be my favorite!

Haim || The Wire

The three California sisters that make up Haim have got my feet tapping and fingers snapping with their new single The Wire [ps the video is hilarious] off their album Days Are Gone. The album is set to be released this Friday, the 27th [pre-order now!]. I'm also obsessed with their EP Forever released Oct 2012, my favorite song being Go Slow. But honestly, they are all good!
