With all this snow, ice and below freezing temperatures my mind can't help but look for signs of spring and this beauty does just the trick. The bright floral print has me dreaming of a tropical get away to a place where the sun is shining, there isn't a cloud in the sky, and I'm lounging on the beach with a good book and a cocktail.

Metallics at the Grammys

Also, any performances that are a must see?
Unfortunately I missed the Grammys last night but made sure to check out the red carpet looks. And while I couldn't pick a favorite the dresses at the top of my list are all metallic. Taylor's Gucci dress was stunning, Ciara's Emilio Pucci dress made her baby bump look so glamorous, and Chrissy Teigen looked party ready in Johanna Johnson.

Piperlime Sale
I love a good sale and lately it seems every where is offering an additional percentage off their already marked down items. And these extra percentages are very generous! One of my favorites would have to be Piperlime where you can get an extra 40% off sale and an extra 60% off final sale. The shoes above are all part of the 60% off final sale and I definitely made sure to snag the Rowen Hindman flat while they still has my size, such a steal!

It's the Weekend!
I know that it's winter and it's supposed to be cold [at least in Cincinnati] but I'm 150% over this weather. I wouldn't usually be such a baby about it but seriously? Negative numbers? Not only is that crazy but also, I'm freezing! And I know there are places like the northeast and Chicago that have it way worse than I do but after the last couple of winters being so mild I was definitely not prepared for what mother nature brought this year. Because of that I thought I'd make this weeks 'It's the Weekend!' post as happy and as bright as possible. Especially since the weekend forecast is more snow and I will need something to cheer me up!

I've been on the hunt for new black heels and these Topshop beauties are pretty much perfect. With the combination of black and gold trim + the thicker heel [love that] I can pretty much wear these with everything [skinny jeans, boyfriend jeans, dresses, skirts, shorts] and anywhere [work, weddings, parties, date nights with the boyfriend, dinner with friends]. And at only $90 I'd definitely get my money's worth!

Girl Crush || Amy Adams
I first saw Amy Adams in The Wedding Date and I've been a fan ever since. I'm loving that American Hustle is doing so well (reviews, nominations, and wins) because that means she is hitting the red carpet and I'm always in awe of what she decides to wear aka the blue Antonio Berardi she wore at the SAG awards on the 14th. She's nominated for an Oscar this year [Actress in a Leading Role] so you can bet I'll be watching on March 2nd to see her [and a few others!].

I started this blog after my college graduation when I deactivated my Facebook account as a way to keep my friends and family up to date on my life. Since then it has become more of a random collection of whatever I feel like posting. That is why a 2014 goal of mine is to post more pictures from my every day life and get back to why I started this blog in the first place. And while snapping shots for an upcoming DIY over the weekend [coming next week!] I thought to myself "why not start right now?" Hello, Friday!
I don't know about you guys but for me this week went by so slow and seemed like the longest week ever. It might be due to the fact that it was my first full week of work in over a month. I almost forgot what a full 5 days felt like! Either way I'm extremely ready for the weekend, sadly mine is only 2 days! Tonight I'm heading north to spend time with the boyfriend, best friend and her husband which is always a guarantee for a few cocktails and lots of laughs. Then on Sunday I'm grabbing lunch with my best guy friend and his partner who are in from NYC. Other than that not a lot planned which means I can catch up on sleep, hang out with family + celebrate my brothers birthday and of course fit in a few fun small projects I've been meaning to tackle. What are you up to? Any fun plans?

What to Make?
The boyfriend is cooking his mom her birthday dinner next week and since I won't be able to make it I want to send along dessert. The only question I have is what to make?!. Especially since when I asked what she likes and what her favorite dessert is the response was "You know, that's a good question and one I should probably know the answer to".
I tell ya .... Boys !
He was able to provide me with two tidbits: she loves dessert but doesn't like the combination of chocolate and orange [gross, me neither!]. And I know she likes cheesecake because she enjoyed a few of the mini Twix cheesecakes I made for the boyfriend's birthday last month. I have until next Tuesday to figure out what to make and I've already started gathering options but I'd love to know if any of you have a killer dessert that might score me some brownie points!
If so, send them my way!

Have you guys seen the trailer for Inside Llewyn Davis? With a cast made up of Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, and Oscar Isaac I have a feeling it's going to be amazing. The soundtrack has been on repeat and I'm especially loving the duet by Justin Timberlake and Carey Mulligan. I must admit it's a little strange to hear JT's voice on a folk song but I kinda like it. And who knew Carey could sing? I certainly didn't but am pleasantly surprised [maybe her hubby taught her]!
The boyfriend is in town tomorrow night so we made plans to go see it. I'll make sure to let you all know how it is!

If you stop by from time to time you might have noticed it's been a little quiet lately. I mentioned here that I had had surgery and spent a few days in the hospital. Well that same health issue decided to give me a month and half off before it came back. After a trip to the ER and being off work for the last week I'm hoping this time it's gone away for good, fingers crossed!
Besides all that not a lot is going on around here but the rest of this month is shaping up to be a good one and I can't wait!
