Fall Flowers

One of my favorite things about this time of year are the gorgeous rich colors that show up in the fall foliage.
Seeing a tree filled with the perfect combination of orange, red and yellow just makes my heart happy.
And what could be better than bringing those gorgeous colors indoors?
Not only are the trees full of these vibrant colors but the fall flowers are as well.

Loving Lately: Vintage Bed Frames

 As a little girl my big girl bed was set in a beautiful full size white metal bed frame. I can honestly say I didn't appreciate it until recently. Lately I've been loving the look of a vintage bed frame. I've been moving the furniture around in my bedroom and although my bed frame doesn't have the worn vintage look I'm thinking I might have to bring it out of storage. Especially after seeing the three beauties above!

When I was a little girl I fell in love with a bright red claw-foot tub. At the time I was delivering Girl Scout cookies around the neighborhood. One stop was to a beautiful old home built during the first World War. My mom being curious about the inside asked the owners if it would be possible for a tour, to which they said yes. There were many great things I discovered that day, but the one that sticks out the most is that red claw-foot tub.
It has been on my wish list ever since. And although the color has changed from red to white, I still am as in love as I was the first day. My dream home is an old farm house with at least one bathroom dressed up like one of the images above: all white decor, a beautiful white claw-foot tub and of course a gorgeous chandelier.

Sneak Peek: Downtown Digs

My best friend recently ditched the 'burbs for a downtown condo so I thought I'd share a little sneak peek of his progress. There are still a few projects, like painting, that need to be finished but um, wow.
The amount of amazing work he gets done in such little time always leaves me speechless.
 My favorite piece has to be his grandfather's old work bench, a few coats of polyurethane did wonders.
And after seeing it I immediately told my mom I will doing the same to my grandfathers.

So what do you think? Pretty amazing, right?

Help Me Decide!

I'm in desperate need of your advice. I mentioned yesterday that I have been searching Pinterest to gather ideas+inspiration for the curtains in my bedroom. Well I have the curtains, I decided on gray and white panels. But the big question, the one I go back and forth on, is do I hang the curtains directly on the rods or do I use rings? When I think I've made a decision I second guess myself. These are in my bedroom, so there isn't a need to be super fancy. And honestly my bedroom has started to take on a very eclectic vibe which I'm obsessed with [I'll get pictures up once it's complete]. But with that being said it almost confuses me more. Does one option lend itself more to funky+eclectic? Or should I mix in a few formal elements to create balance?

 I would love any and all thoughts, suggestions, and advise etc. So this is where I need you! What should I do?

Whether they are indoors, outdoors, used as a headboard, dressing screen, wall decor or even to display pictures I'm currently obsessed with shutters. 

So much that they have been added to the list of things I need for my bedroom. It's been almost 2 months since I moved and sadly my room still has a few projects but I think incorporating shutters in some way is a must. Which definitely means an antiquing trip soon, maybe this weekend!

Side Tables with Spunk

Since moving into the new place I've been working on getting my room put together.

While not a lot has happened in the past week [bed is made, dresser is in place] I've been on the hunt for some fun bedside tables. 

I currently have one of these but am trying to decide if I want another to have a matching set.

Or do I go with something a little unusual, maybe unexpected?

I love the looks above and have channeled these as inspiration while at antique malls.

Feeling Blue

Ok, so not blue, but teal!

With an upcoming move in May I could be coming home at night to a teal bedroom.

The rooms are still to be decided.

So lately I've got teal on my brain.

It is a shade I love {can you tell by my bloggie background?} but not one I thought I'd be working with in a room.

Definitely an exciting challenge! 

Oh, and did I mention the teal bedroom has a fireplace?

Non-working but one with an amazing white mantel and light green tiling.

I'll of course be snapping pictures to share the next time I'm in the space!

Currently Loving: White+Gray Bedrooms

 With an upcoming move it has me rethinking the look of my bedroom.

Lately I've been finding myself drawn a crisp mix of white+gray+natural woods.

These are just a few images I've pulled together as inspiration.

But one thing is for sure, my take on this look will have a few pops of color!

I feel like it has been so long! 

Sorry for my serious case of MIA!

Turns out trying to cover your own work and some one else's while they are on maternity leave takes a toll!

But now that I'm all caught up and fully rested I wanted to share a current obsession of mine:

TRAYS

I have quite a few in my house, each different from the next.

I'm very lucky to have a tray my great-grandfather built using old skids.

Although its original use was as a carrier at the strawberry patch he owned - perfectly fitting 6 little cartons - I've found other uses for it {so has my mother as we have a few}.

Trays are the perfect accessory to any home and add that little touch you just can't get with anything else.

Dressing A Nook

I've always been a huge fan of a breakfast nook.

Especially ones that consist of a banquette, round table, fun chairs and eclectic accessories. 

So I was beyond thrilled when my mom passed along the weekly Houzz newsletter that had a feature titled "11 Ways to Dress Up Your Breakfast Nook".

The 11 tips that you'll find in the article are:

hang drapery

opt for a table that seats six

take note of your table's material

swap your chairs for something more sophisticated

ground the space with a rug

create a luxe banquette

or opt for a contemporary banquette

consider the style of your light fixture

paint the space a different color than the rest of the kitchen
