When I think of summer I think of road trips. I usually have one or two planned each year but my favorite kind has to be the unplanned, just get up and go type. I usually end up driving [even with a car full of guys!] so it's a must that I'm rockin' something comfortable + versatile which is why I always have a cardigan in tow.

Happy Friday, lovelies! I for one am so glad that the weekend is finally here!

Today over at {av}'s the theme for Friday's Fancies is Gingham Gorg so I thought I'd round up a few pretty snapshots.

Although I can say I don't own anything gingham [ is that weird? ] I love the look. Now-a-days it plays very well with the preppy style; however, for me it will always have a vintage feel. I picture my grandmother and her sisters rocking this trend fabulously. Maybe that is why this would be my favorite shot:

The weather in Cincinnati is supposed to be borderline fall-like, high 70's low 80's. Which is perfect for the super fun activity I'll be involved in tomorrow. Unfortunately I can't share just yet!

Especially since I posted here that I was longing for a picnic.

Just this week I purchased my first top in this gorgeous hue and it has left me wanting more.

Since it is such a fabulous color and my closet is a little sparse in this section of the color wheel I know I'll have no problem finding a few more options.

I'm so happy it's Friday .... this week was never-ending!

This weekend is already full of plans but nothing too crazy.

So I'm anticipating a fun but relaxing weekend!

But on to business ....

This week {av} gave us the theme of "Fly Away".

I couldn't decide where I would go.

Other than somewhere warm {so over winter}.

But what really inspired me were the bag and shoes I chose.

Something about the fun pop of color + the worn leather....love.

So for my Fly Away outfit I imagined I was somewhere on vacay enjoying a lunch with friends.

Even though we've skipped winter and went right to spring [I'll admit I miss the snow] I'm very ready for the warmer temperatures, sunny days and flip flops.

I'm loving the way this outfit came together.

A mix of color, stripes, neutrals and metallics.

Friday's Fancies Guest: Chihuahua in the City

After a quick exchange of emails and a brief getting to know you session we settled on using {av’s} theme of Winter Wonderland while using our favorite color as inspiration. If you follow me you’ll know I chose pink; Amanda’s choice is rich and gorgeous teal.

I’ve seen tons of celebrities rocking these coated J Brand jeans lately. They sort of have a leather like shimmer appearance making them just a little more special than your typical colored denim. When I spotted them in teal I knew they would be the base of my outfit inspiration.

Since my recent move from the Southwest to NYC I’ve had to completely rethink my wardrobe and have struggled finding stylish and warm clothes. This would totally be an outfit I could wear to work and then straight out to dinner. I’m always looking for a platform since they are much easier when navigating the streets, subways and buses of NYC. And the earmuffs keep my ears warm but not flattening out my hair like a hat.

Happy Friday everyone!

I'm so thrilled to be linking up once again over at Long Distance Loving.

After a few weeks off this weeks theme came at the perfect time, Color Crush.

With a current temperature of 18 degrees and snow on the ground bright colors are all I'm dreaming of. 

And lately I've been loving the color poppy.

Which plays nicely with the 2012 Pantone color of the year Tangerine Tango.

All of my finds above come from one of my favorite shops ModCloth but I found this color everywhere!

One thing is for sure, this happy shade leaves me hoping for spring and we've barely seen signs of winter.

Today is especially happy for me because it's a vacation day!

I'll be heading to my parents to spend the day baking with my grandma to help get ready for my dad's family christmas tomorrow, which is at my parents' house this year!

Falling For Fall

Today is the first official day of fall!

 To me there is no better way to start it off than with a Friday's Fancies!
